The Level 4 Art Program is meticulously crafted for students aged 16 and above who are eager to deepen their understanding of art through both traditional and contemporary practices. This course emphasizes the development of technical skills, confidence, and independence in artistic expression. Students will engage in discussions that foster critical thinking and personal growth while exploring themes that resonate with their individual passions. The program aims to cultivate a supportive environment where creativity flourishes, allowing students to explore their artistic identities.

Our Objectives for L4

The Level 4 Art Program is designed with specific objectives that guide students in their artistic journey:

Confidence and Independence: Encourage students to take ownership of their artistic journey, fostering a sense of self-reliance in their work. This objective aims to empower students to express their unique perspectives and ideas confidently.
Technical Skill Development: Equip students with drawing and painting techniques to enhance their artistic capabilities. This includes mastering various mediums and understanding the intricacies of art-making processes.
Observational Skills: Train students to perceive and interpret tonal and colour values in their environment, enriching their artwork. Developing keen observational skills is crucial for creating compelling and realistic art.
Composition Mastery: Teach students the principles of composition, including object placement, light intensity, point of view, and colour choices. A strong composition is essential for effective visual storytelling.

In-Depth Study: Provide opportunities for students to delve deeply into a chosen subject or technique, promoting mastery and expertise. This encourages students to explore their interests in greater detail, fostering a deeper understanding of their chosen medium.

  • Hands-on practice with different mediums (acrylics, watercolours, oils) to discover unique styles.

    • Techniques for observing and capturing light and shadow.

    • Still life drawing sessions focusing on tonal variations to enhance realism.

  • Colour Values

    • Exercises in colour observation and application in painting.

    • Outdoor sessions to practice plein air painting, connecting students with their environment.
